CU Trustee walks 70 Miles for Cancer United: A Four-Day Isle of Wight Challenge

On 18 September, Cancer United trustee Gesine and her friend Jayne will be swapping their golf shoes for walking boots as they take on an incredible four-day challenge to walk the entire 70-mile coastal path around the Isle of Wight.

This ambitious challenge is about more than completing a long-distance walk. It is an opportunity to raise vital funds for Cancer United and support the life-changing work the charity delivers for people living with and beyond cancer in the local community.

Trustee Challenge

As a trustee of Cancer United, Gesine has the privilege of seeing first-hand the difference the charity makes to people affected by cancer. From helping individuals rebuild their strength and confidence to providing invaluable support and connection, Cancer United plays an important role in helping people navigate life during and after cancer.

It is this personal connection to the charity’s work that has inspired her to take on the challenge, raising funds to help Cancer United continue providing its specialist services and support to those who need them most.

70 Miles, 150,000 Steps

Over the course of four days, Gesine and Jayne will cover approximately 70 miles of coastal paths, equivalent to around 150,000 steps. Their route will take them through steep climbs, challenging coastal terrain and, inevitably, whatever the unpredictable British weather has in store!
